Heroes...
...was a blast! Had a lot of fun talking with artists and fans. Thanks to everyone that picked up a sketch or a page!!
Many thanks to Shelton Drum for always putting on a great show, thanks to Dustin Harbin for setting up the SCAD Atlanta folks as he did, and thanks to all the Heroes crew for being such gracious hosts!!!!
It was a pleasure meeting the SCAD Savannah students and working along side our colleagues from that campus. Always great to spend time with those folks! Chris Brunner made mention of the ever increasing number of SCAD students and alumni that are working comics professionals, which was very evident at this show and inspiring to see!
Check out the new links.

Thor sketch
Okay, so not so much of a "sketch" as it is a fairly finished drawing. Still trying to catch up with the sketch challenges.

Manga? Say what?
I was just digging through some old pages, drawing, etc. to donate to a few auctions and I came across these pages - Austin Powers manga style! I did these just to see if I could draw manga. I empolyed what I thought at the time I understood as common westerner's flaws that appear when they try manga...don't know if the end result is anything worthwhile, but it's a decent exercise.
Dusty Star Sketch
Okay, still trying to catch up with The Temple of Cartoon Mojo's sketch challenges. Here's Dusty Star...apologies to Andrew Robinson.

Necrotic goof
From the OOPS Dept.:
Approximately 15 pages of the story, "Necrotic" were printed out of sequence in the Mammoth Book of Zombie Comics. The second print run will have the corrected version.

Mummy story comes back to life!
A mummy story, Necrotic, I drew back in '99 has been reprinted in an anthology called, "The Mammoth Book of Zombie Comics." I haven't seen it yet, just heard about it last night. It's a 480 page anthology in b&w.

This is all due to the efforts of Necrotic's co-writer Buddy Scalera. Go check out his site!
Thanks Buddy and way to go!!

Other updates
-I stopped taking the train to work since the price of gas went back down...so not much sketchbook work going on with some of the concepts I'm trying to develop. Which means I'll have to devise a new approach to get back on track.
-The script I've been waiting on has been side-tracked a bit, apparently in part due to the current economic climate. I'm going to try and address the item above with the new free time as well as other stuff.
-I'm going to try and go to some conventions this year.
...that's it...

Baby Update
A while back I posted that we were expecting our 2nd, during October that changed.
We had to go into the hospital on a Friday when Pilar was experiencing some great abdominal pain and by Sunday night she was in surgery. It turned out that she has a second uterus that had a small tear causing massive internal bleeding - she had 4 liters of blood in her abdominal cavity. At this point, the baby, which we found out was another girl, was about 4-5 months along and doing fine. This baby was in the second uterus which was smaller than the primary uterus in which Alison grew.
On Tuesday morning, Pilar coughed, blew some stiches and a lot of blood came out, so she went back into surgery. It was during this surgery that the decision was made to remove the baby from the second uterus as it could not grow appropriately to sustain the baby. Unfortunately, the baby was not developed enough to survive outside of the uterus.
So a rough 11 days in the hospital, a few in I.C.U., but all is well. Pilar is incredibly strong and about 95% healed at this point. We've had very positive outlook on this whole experience almost immediately, being happy that Pilar is still alive and recognizing what a real miracle it is that we have Alison.
We had a lot of amazing support through this, including my Mom and sister, Ann, who came down to help out for a few days, great understanding from the SCAD family, and lots of help from the Alpharetta Mom's Club.
We're doing great and looking forward to an awesome '09!
