Last one for 2010! These are the characters from Cryptopia...copyright me and Ben Raab.
I think that I'll probably do this again next year...hopefully I'll make it all the way through.
I hope that everyone has a Happy New Year and a great 2011!!!

153 - 171
I'm trying to catch up on the new Avengers animated show...I like the way the stories are developing and linking up. I kinda wonder how many beans are being spilled with the movie franchise(s), hopefully none, but the content of the show is pretty cool.
...sorry about the lame Tron dude...I set the timer for 5 minutes to see if I could increase my output and there you go. I may try the 5 minute thing again.

More for the Sketch-A-Day stuff!
More from the Marta train
Waiting for a ride...notice the shmutz from the scanner...ugh
Ali in the pool, pencils and inks by me, colors from Ali
The first four were drawn while watching the first half of "The Wolfman" remake...the others were from some cooking show thing.
Super heroes!

...Okay, so this one wasn't drawn on the Marta...Dr. Tiki, PhD - copyright me, 2010
FF on the train
X-People and characters with cool collared capes.
Comic characters and people on the train..shhh, don't tell...
more of the same
I started this sketch-a-day thing about half-way through the year, so I started at a deficit...Can I finish the whole thing with about a day to go??? Keep checking in to find out!!

086 - 090
...been a while...Here are 6 that are kinda hit and miss. I've been following Chris Samnee's blog and finally picked up an issue of his Thor, which was fun. So I started with Thor and then decided to do the rest of the Avengers. Big fat brush marker.

These are my interpretations of The Face, or Mr. Face as he's known now. If you know the character, he's a guy in a tux with a monster mask...I'm not kidding. So my first attempt (up top), was to drop the mask and do something "creepy"...instead I got a weak Dr. Manhattan. With the second (bottom) I decided to play up the mask, which has always looked Japanese or something South Pacific to me...used the same creepy up-lit thing. The third (to the right) is straight up Maori, I just thought, "Does he need a mask?"...and that's the most I've written about any of these...and yes, I'm counting this as three.

Sketch - A - Day!...weak update
Okay, so here are a few updates...not as many as I'd like, but there you go.
072
I'll count these as 1. My interpretation of Miss Masque, or Masquerade as she's known these days.
073
My interpretation of the new Wonder Woman costume design by Jim Lee. Like most, I'm not down with the jacket, so I tried to make the shoulder pads work without it. Don't think I cracked the case on that.
074
"You know what Jack Burton says at a time like this..."

Blast from the Past
Here's a mention in Beau Smith's ongoing column at Westfield Comics, and embarrassing flashback for everyone that Beau roped into contributing.

068-070
068
This one I did before we left for Colombia. Another Green Lama - clothes are the same, but I made him older and did a better drawing.
069
These were done sometime between 2am and 3am when I spent the night at the airport in Bogota (thank you Aires airlines). Vacuum cleaner man did a good job of keeping people up, the other guy had the interesting technique of emptying his pockets and stuffing the contents into his shirt before taking a snooze. Finally, silhouette of guitar guy strumming in the corner.
070
My take on Fighting Yank.
062-067
This batch of drawings were done either from memory while sitting in airports in Cali, Colombia or Bogota, Colombia or live. I'll tell ya what's what.
062
From memory and honestly the cart could have been bigger and still accurate.
063
This one was done from life sitting on the front deck of my in-laws farm looking down the hill at the new corral...which currently holds some fat bunnies. Done with a brush pen.
064
Done from memory...the kid I saw in Bogota, the lady I saw near Villa de Leyva.
065
This one was done live in pencil from Tia Maria Eugenia's living room looking out towards the patio/garden.
066 - 067
Yes, I know that there are 3, but the bike is the worst. The little boy is the son of the couple that works on the in-laws farm. The soldiers on the side of the road give passing cars the "thumbs-up" to assure them that the road is free from guerillas.

Cover Run
I bought Adam Hughes' DC Comics cover collection, called "Cover Run," which is completely awesome. One of those things that is both really inspiring and completely depressing simultaneously. Know what I mean?

60 & 61
049-059
049
Some Bat stuff that didn't go any farther, so I'll count 'em as one.
050-052
Lame Conan, Wolverine and Ms. Marvel
053-055
Lame Hulk...shoulders should'a been broader...lame Falcon head, Scarlet Witch is okay
056 - 058
Owlman and Superwoman, Blue Flame again! (still copyright me), Spiderman
059
another Spidey lacking absolutely any tension that would make the pose anywhere near believable...
That's it for now...so hopefully I'll be able to do some more and not completely disappear for another 6 months.
